Delta-10 THC hit the markets right around the time that delta-8 was getting popular. While the two had remarkable similarities, users quickly began pointing out some differences as well.

When it comes to cannabis (or anything you consume for that matter,) it’s important to make sure that you’re educating yourself. Part of that is knowing how it compares to other options and whether it's the right choice for you at all. Just because something is new and exciting doesn’t mean that it’s safe, effective, or smart.

But is this the case with delta-10 THC? In this article, we’ll answer that question along with some of the other major questions people ask about this somewhat new cannabinoid.

After, we’ll talk about the dangers that might exist when it comes to delta-10 and what to look for in a high-quality delta-10THC vendor. We hope after reading this, you can make an educated answer to the question of whether or not delta-10 THC is right for you.

Does Delta-10 Have THC?

Technically speaking, delta-10 IS THC. Molecularly, the difference between delta-10 THC and delta-9 THC in illegal marijuana plants is small. Namely, the location of the double bond on the molecule varies from the 9th carbon to the 10th.

As a result, it will likely show up in screenings so those subjected to drug testing should not partake in it.

How is Delta-10 THC Made?

Delta-10 THC (and other hemp-derived cannabinoids) start off as CBD isolate. From the point of isolation, producers can alter the molecule to turn it into delta-9 and then delta-10 THC. This is the same process by which producers make delta-8 but it’s much harder and more involved.

Delta-10 vs. Delta-9 THC

If your endocannabinoid system’s receptors are a lock, delta-9 THC represents the perfect “key.” Anything that’s off from the shape of that key will not be able to stay on quite as well as delta-9 THC.

This is true in the cases of delta-8 and delta-10 THC. Though they’re still forms of THC, they vary slightly from the perfect version of it. What this translates to is a product that will not be quite as potent.

Delta-10 THC vs Delta-8 THC

By many accounts, the effects between delta-10 and delta-8 THC are identical in terms of potency. While there is very little research into the relative potency between THCs, most accept delta-8 to be about ½ - ⅓ as potent as delta-9.

The big difference between the two (at least, anecdotally,) comes from the type of effect that users typically experience. Whereas many find delta-8 to be sedating and tiring, delta-10 is reportedly more energizing and cerebral.

Otherwise, users can expect a relatively similar experience between the two.

Is Delta-10 THC Safe?

There is no reason to suspect that delta-10 THC on its own is unsafe. It is very likely to be equally as non-toxic as other forms of THC and provide a similar type of effect.

The main concern when it comes to alternative cannabinoids comes from the fact that they require such a lengthy process to create. In the case of delta-8 and delta-10 THC, multiple reactions – some involving chemicals – take place to reach the final result.

Since they exist with the unregulated market of hemp products, producers have very few things they have to prove about their products. In fact, the only thing that hemp companies actually have to show about delta-10 is how much delta-9 the product has.

As a result, it’s possible for some chemicals or heavy metals to remain in the product and render it unsafe. According to a recent report from the United States Cannabis council, the problem may be vast.

Taking 16 samples, they found that 4 of them contained lead, 7 failed limits for the amount of copper, chromium, or nickel they contained, and 7-10 compounds in each product were unidentifiable.

If you do decide to go with an alternative form of THC, make sure you’re getting it from a supplier like Perfect Plant that goes above and beyond on reporting

How to Find Delta-10 THC

Bearing in mind the problems regarding reporting, it’s important to vet your delta-10 supplier carefully. Not only is there a risk of getting a product that isn’t very potent, but there is also the risk of inhaling harmful chemicals or heavy metals.

Due to the difficulties and expenses surrounding delta-10, we don’t currently have any products on our website with this cannabinoid. We do, however, sell some vapables (which we cannot sell online) that utilize delta-10 in our shops.
