What is a Nectar Collector?

A nectar collector is essentially a miniature dab rig designed for easy use on the go. The body is usually made of glass or silicone for durability, and the tip is made from titanium or quartz for more efficient heating. You heat the tip using a torch or electric power, then gently dab the concentrate onto it. Inhale, exhale, and enjoy!

The different types of Nectar Collectors

There are a few different types of nectar collectors. Each have pros and cons, and are mostly dependent on your personal preference. There are electric, silicone, and glass nectar collectors. Keep reading to learn more about each:

Electric Nectar Collectors

Electric nectar collectors are a bit more of a modern version of the classic glass collectors. Instead of using a torch to heat the tip, they rely on a built-in battery and heating element.

This eliminates the need for an external heat source, which makes them much more convenient and portable. Many electric models also offer adjustable temperature settings. They're also typically smaller and more portable than traditional nectar collectors.

Silicone Nectar Collectors

Silicone is a popular choice among dabbers due to the durability, flexibility, and affordability. These silicone nectar collectors are made from a high-quality silicone and are sturdy yet lightweight. Because of the material, they can also withstand drops and bumps if you're less than graceful.

Silicone collectors can be bent and shaped to fit different smoking preferences. They can withstand high temperatures and due to the versatility of the material, come in a variety of styles, colors, and designs.

Glass Nectar Collectors

Glass is the most classic material for nectar collectors. The glass, if high quality, is durable, long-lasting, and clean. Glass also preserves the taste of the concentrate better than silicone or electric collectors. They can withstand high temperatures as well.

You may also see nectar collectors as simply a tube of glass, or a honey straw. Glass nectar collectors can be a bit more expensive than silicone collectors, but if made by the skilled hands of a glass blower, they can be quite beautiful and unique pieces of art!

How to use a Nectar Collector

First, make sure your concentrate is at a good consistency for dabbing. If it's too thick, you can use a dab tool to heat it up slightly. Then, use a torch or electric power to heat the tip of your nectar collector until the tip glows orange or red. As you touch the hot tip to your concentrate, it will melt and vaporizes.

That's when you inhale the vapor through the mouthpiece, similar to sipping through a straw. Remember, the tip of your nectar collector will be very hot after use. Always place it in a safe spot to cool down.

How to clean a Nectar Collector

It's important to clean your nectar collector from time to time. Clean equipment equals a better experience!

  • If your nectar collector has removable parts, take them apart.
  • Fill a small container with isopropyl alcohol and soak the parts for 10-15 minutes.
  • Use cotton swabs or pipe cleaners to gently scrub away any residue or buildup. For stubborn residue, add a pinch of salt to the isopropyl alcohol.
  • Rinse the parts thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining alcohol and salt.
  • Allow the parts to air dry completely before reassembling!
