Is there a benefit to rolling a cross joint vs. a regular joint? Not really, except getting major props from your stoner friends at your next hangout. It might seem daunting, but it's not as hard as you may think! Here's a step-by-step guide to rolling a cross joint.
1. Gather Your Supplies
You need to assemble a few supplies before you get started rolling a cross joint:
- Cannabis, your favorite strain
- Grinder
- Full-size and small rolling papers
- Needle or other small sharp object
- Scissors
- A friend to light the tips of your completed cross joint
2. Roll a Big Joint
Grab your full-size rolling paper, your cannabis, and your grinder. Grind the cannabis and roll a big ole' joint. Put as much cannabis as you can into this one - the bigger the joint the easier it will be to build the cross later on. Make sure to twist your joint at the end so you can light it easier at the end.
3. Roll a Thin Joint
This littler joint will serve as the "cross" of your cross joint. The smaller size will make it easier to put together. Twist both ends of your thin joint. This step is why you may need a second person there to light it for you - you'll be lighting all the ends at the same time!
4. Make a Hole in the Big Joint
Take your big joint and a needle or pin. Poke a hole about 3/4 of the way up your joint as demonstrated in the illustration above. Go slow and gentle and push the needle through your joint. Wiggle it a little bit to widen it!
5. Make a Hole in the Little Joint
Grab your little joint and use the needle to poke a hole right through the middle. This hole can be a little smaller than the last one you made. This one just ensures that smoke flows evenly to your mouth. Definitely take your time with this hole. If it's not right, the joint won't smoke!
6. Assemble!
Be careful! This is the hard part. Carefully, put the little joint through the hole in the big joint. Push, twist, do whatever you need to do (slowly) until the small hole of your little joint is inside the big joint and lined up all nice.
7. Support the Cross Joint
Grab your scissors and some more rolling papers, either size is fine. Cut the glue strip off of the papers and using those glue strips, wrap criss-cross around the intersection of your joint. This will just make sure your joint is air tight and strong.
8. Light it Up!
The time has come to enjoy your creation! Grab a friend and three lighters. Spark up each end at the same time and voila - you're smoking a cross joint, dude!
