Anxiety is something that can disrupt an entire life. Often it doesn’t exist in one moment of the day but, rather, permeates throughout, casting a shadow over everything.

Though anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications were on the decline up until now, COVID has shaken up the pharmacy like it has the rest of the world. A study found that, on the week of March 15th this year, 78% of all anti-depressant, anti-anxiety and anti-insomnia prescriptions filled were new. Granted, this was the peak of this phenomenon but the general upward trend has remained.

Anxiety is definitely having a moment right now but it’s far from new. A recent survey from before COVID first appeared on the scene found that 49% of people using CBD use CBD for anxiety. CBD has been shown to decrease both neurological and physiological effects of stress and anxiety so it makes sense.

Research has shown CBD to have powerful anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties for some time now. This study compared it to other anti-anxiety medication and found CBD to be one of the best back in 1993. Additionally, this study from 1982 found CBD to be a powerful tool to combat the high-anxiety paranoia induced by large doses of THC.

We have yet to find the limit for this plant. In fact, recent studies are even finding CBD to be a potential treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as well as a few neurological disorders. Some of these treatments look at CBD in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy but, for some, CBD alone may be enough.

Beneficiaries of using CBD for anxiety can range from those suffering from PTSD, social anxiety, panic attacks, and even seasonal affective disorder (SAD.) A recent study found CBD to be an extremely effective tool when measured against the placebo group for treatment of SAD, a condition that affects an estimated 10 million people per year.

CBD has been proven to reduce and combat anxiety through scientific research. Just as science has proven, the anecdotal evidence that we experience in our own lives and in the lives of our customers has shown CBD to have immense benefits.

These include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and so many other contributions to your health.

For fast-acting anxiety relief, we recommend trying out our tinctures or flower! These allow the CBD to act nearly instantaneously for those moments when stress tries to take over! For extended relief or a pre-emptive strike on your anxiety, edibles like our 10:1 Gummies are also an amazing option!
