The ongoing complexities of cannabis legislation in the United States can make it hard to know for sure what is and isn’t allowed in each state. Edibles are one of the most popular ways to consume cannabis but obtaining them has always been elusive in the past.

Today, many companies sell edibles but can you buy them online and have them shipped to your door? Keep reading to learn more about this along with the types of edibles you can buy and where you can find them.

Can You Buy Edibles Online?

Every state has different laws surrounding cannabis but typically some forms of edibles are legal everywhere. Where you live determines whether the gummies you can source should contain hemp or marijuana products.

Though this hasn’t been the case in the past, “hemp” extends far beyond CBD today. Several forms of THC are available for purchase after conversion from hemp products.

Can You Buy Edibles in Tennessee?

Marijuana — Tennessee defines this as cannabis with over .03% THC by weight — is not legal in this state. However, there are forms of THC — including Delta-9 THC — producers can source from hemp.

As such, customers in Tennessee can still buy delta-8, hemp-derived delta-9, and other alternative forms of THC. This is in addition to the CBD edibles which provide a benefit of their own without the intoxicating effects.

Can You Order THC Gummies Online?

Yes! While many states with legal access to marijuana don’t allow for this, products falling under the hemp category are available online.

On our webstore, we’re proud to offer a myriad of edible products for a wide range of cannabinoids and applications.

Types of Cannabis Edibles Available

When it comes to federally available cannabis edibles, there are a few different options to consider. Below are the four most common options our customers are typically searching for.

CBD Edibles

CBD is a powerful cannabinoid with a broad spectrum of benefits and uses. People often turn to  CBD when they want to experience the benefits of cannabis without the intoxicating element of THC.

CBD may be better than THC when it comes to certain conditions as well and many enjoy taking it daily as a supplement.

Delta-8 THC Edibles

Delta-8 THC is a form of THC that is molecularly similar to Delta-9 THC. From this standpoint, the only difference between the two is the location of a double bond — as the name implies, happening on the 8th carbon instead of the 9th.

This translates into an effect about ⅔ as potent as you would expect from delta-9 THC. While many use this as a legal replacement for delta-9 THC, some do prefer the lower potency and opt for it regardless of choices.

Delta-9 THC Edibles

This is the form of THC which exists in Marijuana and is illegal above .03% on a dry weight basis. When dealing with the plant, this limit prohibits an intoxicating amount from being possible.

This is not the case for edibles, however. Since edibles weigh more, producers can fit more THC in them legally. The process for creating hemp-derived delta-9 THC involves extracting an isolated form of CBD from the plant.

After completing this process, producers can collect the THC from the runoff liquid — or “mother liquor” — left over.

Combination of CBD and THC Edibles

CBD and THC naturally occur alongside each other in most strains of cannabis but most favor one or the other. When it comes to edibles, producers can toy around with the ratio of the two for varied effects.

Many people enjoy the combination of CBD and THC because it tapers some of the effects of THC. For those who are particularly sensitive to the effects of THC or are just looking for a more mild experience, this can be the perfect fit.

Is Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC Safe?

There is no reason to assume delta-9 THC sourced from hemp is any less dangerous than that from marijuana. However, it does require a series of processes to create which can lead to some complications.

Pairing this with the fact that the hemp industry has very few regulations and there is a potential recipe for disaster. When deciding to purchase a hemp product, it’s always important to properly vet your vendor and ensure they are going above and beyond the requirements of reporting.
